Stuck at Home? Try These Free Online Activities to Beat Your Boredom

With so many families working and studying from home this month, it can be hard to keep everyone entertained and happy.   • Here is a playlist of the most jaw-dropping TED talks ever given. From a headset that can read your brainwaves to robots that can fly, it’s hard to be bored when your mind is being blown!
  • The YouTube channel Home Science features safe and fun science experiments for people of all ages. With their help you can make your own 3D hologram projector, create crystals, or even build an electric train.
  • NPR compiled a list of all the live concerts that are going to be free to stream in the next month. Jam out with the Dropkick Murphy’s, sing along to the Indigo Girls, or enjoy live performances from the Metropolitan Opera- the choice is yours!
  • Always wanted to learn a second language? Now is your time! Duolingo offers free, interactive lessons in 30+ languages. You can commit as much or as little time as you want and personalize your lessons to your skill level.
  • Peloton is offering their new users a free 90-day trial for their workout app. Their app allows you to stream finesses classes from the comfort of your home- no equipment required. Classes include yoga, meditation, strength training, and more.
  • Here is a list of 12 museums that offer virtual tours on their website- allowing you to (virtually) walk through their famous exhibits for free. You can tour the Guggenheim, Musée d’Orsay, and the Van Gogh Museum without ever leaving your house!
  • For the musically inclined, Patatap.com allows you make your own tunes using just your keyboard. They even make cool graphics to go with each sound- get ready to jam out and become the family DJ!
  • The YouTube channel Virtual Disney World allows you to virtually tour Walt Disney World without leaving your couch. Check out their 360 videos with sound that make you feel like you are experiencing real Disney magic.
  • Want to impress your friends and family with your technological prowess? You can now learn how to code online. Download 6 months of curriculum through the University of Utah, for free! Check it out here.
  • Feeling stir crazy? Tour the world with Google Street View! A lot of people don’t realize how cool Google Street View really is. You can explore entire countries using only your mouse. (Did you know you can enter “10 Downing Street,” into Google Street View and virtually tour the inside of London’s government headquarters? Try it out!)
