Win-Win: Murdock Hyundai of Lindon Gets Faster Internet, Saves Money with UTOPIA

Murdock Auto Group started in 1982 with the opening of Murdock Chevrolet in Bountiful, Utah. In 2005, Murdock purchased its first Hyundai dealership in Orem, Utah, expanding Hyundai offerings to Logan in 2006 and Salt Lake City in 2008. For Murdock’s Hyundai dealerships, their goal was simple: have a Murdock Hyundai in every neighborhood. Murdock feels its success comes from placing the customer first and fulfilling the Murdock motto, “Where U-R the Heart of Our Business.”

When Murdock Hyundai relocated from Orem to southwest Lindon in 2009, the company found that UTOPIA, the community-owned fiber network, would be the quickest to get the line to the dealership. “Plus, they had the best network speeds,” says Amanda Grover, corporate controller.

Now that the dealership in on the network, Murdock is more efficient because UTOPIA “gives us the speed to run our Dealership Management System, which is all Internet based,” Grover says.

Another benefit is that UTOPIA is “much cheaper” than the T1 line they had in Orem. That means Murdock enjoys better Internet and saves money at the same time! “What we had before was much slower than UTOPIA. While we didn’t move to Lindon because of UTOPIA, getting Internet service like this at our new location was a big bonus,” Grover says.
