Completion of UTOPIA Fiber Network Throughout Payson City

Expedited project will give Payson residents access to the fastest internet in the Nation by end of 2020
Payson, UTAH (December 19th, 2019) – UTOPIA Fiber, Utah’s open-access fiber optic network, announced an agreement with Payson City for the rapid completion of UTOPIA Fiber’s network for the residents of Payson. Currently, approximately half of the city can connect to UTOPIA Fiber’s network. The expedited build is projected to be completed rapidly because of the amount of existing infrastructure that is located in the city. This new agreement will take advantage of that infrastructure to ensure the entire city has access to UTOPIA Fiber services by the end of 2020.
“We are excited to expedite our timeline in Payson City,” said UTOPIA Fiber’s Executive Director, Roger Timmerman. “Payson is experiencing tremendous growth in their community and the city understands the importance of connectivity to their residents. It is vital infrastructure in the 21st century that encourages economic development, facilitates smart city applications, and connects residents to speeds up to 10 Gbps.
Payson City is one of the original UTOPIA Fiber cities that opted to get on board with high-speed connectivity. UTOPIA Fiber projects are open-access, meaning the fiber system is made available to local and regional providers rather than competing with private providers. Payson residents can get a fiber connection starting at $65/month for 250/250 Mbps and have the option to choose from 11 local providers that run on UTOPIA Fiber’s network.
