The number one question we get from community members is, “how can I sign up for UTOPIA Fiber?” We are building faster than ever and consistently working towards creating partnerships with new cities to provide our lightning-fast connectivity to any community willing to partner with us! Here’s how it all works.

UTOPIA Fiber is an inter-local governmental agency that was created by a group of Utah cities in 2004. We build, deploy, and operate a fiber to the home (FTTH) network that is open access and promotes competition in telecommunications services. To expand into a new city, we have to create a partnership and agreement with that city in order to build our network to residential homes.

We provide residential fiber services in the following cities:

  • Brigham City
  • Centerville
  • Layton
  • Lindon
  • Midvale
  • Morgan City
  • Murray
  • Orem
  • Payson
  • Perry
  • Tremonton
  • West Point
  • West Valley City
  • Woodland Hills

How to sign up if you live in a UTOPIA Fiber city

  1. Check out our availability maps and find the map for your city.
  2. Locate your address on our map and determine if your address parcel is gray or greenGreen means you can sign up on our website, and gray means we are still working on servicing your home.

If we are building in your area

  1. Check the map to see which footprint you are located in.
  2. Go to our handy list of build-out timelines to see when your footprint is scheduled to be built-out.
  3. While you are waiting for us to complete your area, be sure to fill out your information at givemeutopiafiber.com so that we can contact you when your home is available for service.

If you live in a city that does not have UTOPIA Fiber connectivity

We would love to be in any community that desires UTOPIA Fiber connectivity. However, it is ultimately up to your city government if they’d like us to build to residents in your city.

There are many factors we have to consider when deciding to complete infrastructure in a new area. First, we have to install the fiber backbone for our network. The cost of building new fiber-optic lines is expensive, and therefore, every mile of our network has to be carefully planned. We work with city leaders to review infrastructure, including roads, underground and overhead utility paths, permits, and more.

If you want us to expand to your city, we encourage you to contact your city leaders and city council because they will ultimately decide if we build there. Often cities make this decision based on interest from the community, so it’s essential you make your voice heard.

If you live in an HOA or apartment building

HOA’s and apartment buildings are typically built on private roads. So, we cannot build or service the homes in that area unless the HOA board allows us to. We recommend reaching out to your HOA president or apartment management and encouraging them to contact us to go over options. If they would like to schedule a time to chat with us, they can contact our Marketing Manager, Alexis Christensen, at achristensen@utopiafiber.com.

We partner with over twenty-five local and national Internet service providers to connect our business customers and have fiber connections stretching from the Utah/Idaho border to Las Vegas.
