Sweeten Your Life With Good Cookies

We all know about cookies on the internet but today we wanted to talk about some much better cookies! That’s right we are talking about good old-fashioned Sugar Cookies, and we’ve got the perfect recipe for all of your holiday cookie decorating needs. Whether you like your cookies iced, plain, round, or in fun shapes, this recipe is perfect for you. Best of all it is no chill so there’s less of a wait to enjoy the sugar cookie goodness!  Here’s the recipe for our favorite sugar cookie:

Sugar Cookie Recipe:

1 Cup unsalted butter – make sure your butter is room temperature

1 Cup granulated white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 cups all-purpose flour


PREHEAT oven to 350° F.

Cream your butter and sugar until smooth, around 3 minutes

Mix in your vanilla extract and your egg.

Next, add in your baking powder and salt.

Gradually add in your flour and mix until the dough pulls easily away from the sides of the bowls. 

Divide into 2-3 chunks and roll out onto a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness, and cut into your desired shapes. 

Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes. 

Let them cool and then ice to your heart’s content. 

You can’t have sugar cookies without icing so here’s a super simple buttercream recipe that will be the icing on the cake for your sugar cookie! 

Icing recipe:

1 cup unsalted butter, room temp

4 cups powdered sugar

3 to 4 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Food coloring of your choice 

Mix the butter and 1 cup of powdered sugar until smooth and combined.

Continue mixing the powdered sugar in 1 cup at a time. Add 1 tablespoon of milk after each cup of powdered sugar. 

Once your butter, milk, and powdered sugar are mixed together add in your vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
